So after my rant several posts ago about how God is changing us I thought I would give you a glimpse into how we are looking more like Jesus these days.
I had heard of a church serving the homeless in a large park in the city. We went and have been joining as often as we can over the past few months. We get up at 5:30am to catch the 6:00am train to the city, arrive and help bag up donated bread and onigiri for the 100+ men and women that arrive to hear about Jesus, when they break out into small groups the volunteers walk around serving hot coffee. It is truly lovely to serve. Yes, at times it is a sacrifice, the early mornings, but being the hands of feet of Jesus to the poor is most fulfilling.
Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn't God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren't they the ones who will inerit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? James 2:5-6
