Our rescue!

We were pulling into Grandan's driveway yesterday and I stopped to get the mail and noticed this red shouldered hawk nestled in the grass in the ditch by the road. I thought maybe she was just being still so as not to be noticed because she had a mouse or something so I walked toward her. She flapped her wings to move but did not move her legs. When we got to the house I called animal control and they directed me to the police department (?). Anyway there is a woman, a Sargent actually, who rescues birds of prey. Sargent Laura told us what to do, so back to the end of the driveway we go. The kids were so excited. Grandan had just pulled in, so with towels in hand we gently picked her up and took her to the Gwinnett Police Department. Whew, the adventures never end! How sweet of God to provide such wildlife thrills to these little Asian kiddos whose general encounters with wildlife are bugs in the house!

fishin' and catchin'...

Eat your hearts out Grandan and Dendy! Check out these whoppers. The catfish are really biting this year and Chad and the kids have been having a ball! Nykolas caught the first one but Lili caught the biggest! Chad has a trot line set out and they check their line morning, noon and night. I think in all they have caught and released (with a few fatalities) about 15 fish!

So much for raising girly girls. With the two fatalities Mia has wanted to donate them to the horrid soaring buzzards (Nykolas calls them bizzards) for a meal. Circle of life and all....
